The Maldives is an equatorial island nation in the Indian Ocean, and so, we enjoy warm and sunny weather around the year. The monsoon season surprises you with gentle rain showers from May to October, but you can expect temperatures between a balmy 26 and 32 degrees celsius year round.
Maldivian seas are warm and clear throughout the year too! Only 298 square kilometres of the country’s total area of 90,000 square kilometres is made up of dry land. About five per cent of the world’s reefs, which are formed by both soft and hard corals, are found in the Maldives. These reefs are known for their vibrant displays of colour. Large pelagic fish like manta rays and whale sharks are also drawn to the Maldives by the abundance of nutrients carried in by the ocean currents. Maldivian oceans are home to over 2000 diverse species of marine life ranging from healthy populations of dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays and whale sharks.

Since the Maldives is one of the most dispersed countries in the world, air travel is essential for the daily lives of locals. The Maldives is well connected with the rest of the world with four international and 13 domestic airports located along the length of the archipelago, however Velana International Airport serves as the main entry point. Direct flights from Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia fly daily and weekly to the Maldives.
